Hmmm, interesting. Having been friends w/PBF since their early days I dont recall this LP. It may have been just before I met them, but never in the years has anyone or ANY of the boys ever mentioned this.... it might actually be the Canadian PBF. I dont ever remember the LA boyz ever using "& The Gems" in their name either. As well as the songs dont ring a bell. But then again, PBF was out for about 2 months by the time I had become friends with them, so anythign is possible. I'll call and find out and let ya know as soon as Steve or Kristy get back to me. Here is the quote from the ad:
"On the Montreco label, a hard-to-find rock record! This group, Pretty Boy Floyd & The Gems were a "Hair Metal" quartet, consisting of singer Steve Summers, guitarist Kristy Majors, bassist Vinnie Chas and drummer, Karl Kane. This group dis-banded in early 1990 and re-united in 1999. This is a 12" 45rpm, with the songs: ROUGH, TOUGH, PRETTY TOO, I ROCK 'CAUSE I LIKE IT and HOLD TIGHT. There are no time lengths posted on these songs. This record is sealed in an open-faced cardboard sleeve."
It names the PBF guys so it isnt the Canadian band. The picture of the record makes me wonder though! I might buy it. Are these songs familiar to anyone?

I saw that... but believe me, it wouldnt be the first time that someone has mixed the two up. Years ago in a metal magazine they were praising PBF and saying how these guys rocked, etc. And then proceeded to name the members BUT put a picture up of the Canadian version. Its happened more than people know. *giggles* Im sorry, Karl Kane???? Thats a typo... now everytime I see Kari Im gonna start to giggle and call him Karl. Like I said, if ya want I'll try and ask one of the the guys... that label doesnt ring a bell. If it IS the LA version, Im gonna hurt them that never in allll the years has anyone on this green earth, the band nor die hard fans EVER mentioned this LP.

From what I have found in just a few second sof searching is that PBF And The Gems is an Irish Punk band. Funny thing is that in one article I found, it mentions that they will be a cover band from time to time, using the names "Candy" and "Pretty Boy Floyd"!!! LOL!!! But from what I have found, they are from the 70's.

Without a doubt, it is an Irish Punk band circa 1978.
